Melbourne's charter departures cluster at Docklands, Williamstown and St Kilda, with more around the bay at Geelong and Mornington.

Port Phillip is nearly two thousand square kilometres, so there is no shortage of room, and the bay's west and east shores are different trips. What defines sailing here is the entrance: Port Phillip Heads runs hard, and crossing it is a tide-dependent exercise most charters simply do not undertake.

Inside, the sailing is reliable and often brisk. November to April is the comfortable window, and a southerly change is the thing that reshapes a day.
