Adelaide, Glenelg and North Haven
Gulf sailing from three bases inside half an hour of the city.
Adelaide's charter fleet is spread across Glenelg and Holdfast Shores, the North Haven and Outer Harbor marinas, and the squadron at Outer Harbor. All of them open onto Gulf St Vincent.
The gulf is shallow, protected on three sides and reliably breezy in the afternoon, which is close to ideal for day sailing and for learning. Kangaroo Island and the Yorke Peninsula are the longer trips, and both are real passages rather than day hops.
October to April is the day-sailing season. Outside it the gulf still sails, but the afternoon sea breeze that makes it pleasant is less dependable.
