What happens in an emergency at sea?

Before departure, ask the crew or handover person to explain what guests should do, where relevant equipment is and how communications work on the route. Request another explanation if you are unsure.

For a skippered trip

Alert the crew promptly and follow their directions. Tell them in advance about needs that may affect the emergency arrangements for your group.

For bareboat hire

Make sure the nominated skipper and appropriate crew understand the operator’s procedures, communications equipment and contact arrangements. Keep the instructions available aboard. A general website answer cannot replace that briefing or training.
